Cheapest Lima Flights

If you’re going to visit Peru, chances are Lima will be at the top of your itinerary. The city is, of course, the capital of the country but is also its largest city. Plus, because it can be found on the country’s coast, your visit will put you right next to the Pacific Ocean. After taking your Peru flights into Lima, you’ll find plenty to enjoy about this magnificent city.

Arriving in Lima

The primary way to get into the city is through Lima flights. The primary airport in the city is the Jorge Chavez International Airport. Almost every major city in South America, many large cities in North America, and a few other cities around the world, have direct flights into Lima.

When you do arrive at the airport, you need to be prepared for the potential of long delays. Numerous early morning and evening international flights will arrive around the same time so getting through immigration will be a challenge. The average time spent in this process is 90 minutes.

Enjoying the Culture

As you are experiencing the potentially long Peru flights, plan what you want to see in Lima. There are plenty of desirable attractions. If you want to spend a leisurely afternoon enjoying some sights, head to the Plaza de Armas. The square is bordered by some of the city buildings, as well as the main Cathedral. If church architecture is high on your interest list, the La Iglesia de San Francisco is a good choice in the downtown portion of the city. Not only is the architecture amazing but if you travel through the catacombs below the church you can see 25,000 human skeletons.

A number of museums can also be found in the city. The Museo de Arte has a large number of Peruvian pieces showing the country’s rich artistic history. You can also find two museums of interest in the Instituto Riva Aguero.

Having Fun in Lima

You can’t visit a city like Lima without planning to enjoy yourself with some great night life and other excitement. One of the best sites is the Larcomar, a mall located in Miraflores. Besides the normal shopping and dining experiences, you can enjoy the cinema and the discos. The site is positioned on the top of a hill which overlooks a beautiful beach. Another good spot for night life is an area of Miraflores known as the Barranco where you’ll find clubs and lots of twenty-something locals.

If you’re more adventurous, you should try paragliding. Several companies are located in Lima which provide training and will take you to one of the cliffs around Miraflores where you can experience different types of Lima flights.

Archaeological Exploration

A great reason for choosing Peru flights is to enjoy archaeological areas around Lima. One of those locations is Pachacamac which you’ll find 25 kilometers south of the city. The area includes some amazing Inca temples that you can enter and explore for only a small fee. Unfortunately, most of the temples are not as well-preserved as you might like and some can’t be seen up close. If you want to enjoy some Inca Empire ruins but you’re not traveling to Machu Picchu, this is a good alternative.

Enjoying the Food and Drink

Even if food is served on your Lima flights, you should hold off and enjoy the delicacies on land instead. After all, the city was deemed the Gastronomical Capital of the World in 2006. That’s because you can find such a wide array of dishes available in the city’s hundreds of restaurants.

While in Lima, be sure to enjoy some of the fresh fruit juice drinks sold around the town and at least one Inca Kola, a fruit flavored drink that was so popular the company had to be purchased by Coca-Cola just so the large soda manufacturer could compete with its popularity.
